They are one of the best concerts, you can not go but just seeing them from the screen, I know it was surprising

    2. @Chris And Ford yanked the designers (and engineers) from Aston Martin when they owned them. What’s your point.

  3. Doug can you please do a detailed Doug score again like you used to do? I really loved how you would go over each point individually

    1. @Doug DeMuro Imma be real with you Doug, we love your repetitiveness. You start every video with a: ‘THISSSSSSSS’ for gods sake. And the detailed DougScore is just part of your ‘quirks and features’ we like so much

    2. @Doug DeMuro or you could always shorten the cars and bids segment and give us the detailed Doug scores we’re begging for. Yeah I know… It’ll never happen😐

    1. @MandarinDuck 7 years new car guarantee. That’s something when the competition have a max of 5 years.

    2. @Jori Diculous
I think they mean that it will break down in 20,000 miles like some of Hyundai’s previous cars lol

But I think Hyundai has gotten just a little better in recent years in the safety and reliability aspects.

    3. @Luke De Boer I’ll take a 89 Caprice Classic with over 200K miles over one of those, I bet it would last longer

  4. I love the retro styling of this thing, it looks like a concept car. It’s so nice that they translated the concept design to the final production vehicle.

    1. Nobody talks about the fact that he already reviewed this car 9 months ago.?
      You’re all weird

    2. @Joe turner Oh really? I don’t believe you. I bet you and Mrs. Sharon are some guy in a hut in Nigeria. You want my money, don’t you? Tell me how much you want my money.

    1. I was shocked at how amazing it looked in person. Hyundai did an amazing job and I hope they take this design and incorporate it into their other models

    2. They’re deceptively big. You’d never guess because Hyundai did a great job of scaling up the retro hatchback proportions to crossover size.

  5. I drove past one on a little side street, and thought it was an Audi… now I really want one. It ticks all the styling queues for me.

  6. Drove one yesterday as well as the Mustang Mach-E. That was my first time driving an electric car. It felt weird but really cool at the same time. The hardest thing to get used to is the rapid deceleration from the regenerative braking when lifting off the pedal.

    1. The way they do regen braking is so stupid. Just turn it on when I press the brake pedal and mix it with the regular brakes when I need stronger braking.

    2. @Beef Ingot yessir, level 0 will turn off the regen when you let off the accelerator. To slow down, using the normal brake pedal, it will use blended braking depending on the circumstances like any other mild hybrid

    3. @WTFx Good to note. Thanks for the info. Now if only it had a real front trunk it might be more interesting.

  7. I have driven several hundred kilometres as a passenger next to the driver – the car is incredibly comfortable and quiet.

  8. Glad to see you guys finally got this one too 🙂 Love the styling on both of them.
The EV6 also comes with same charge adapter. You can charge other EVs using it.

Now will it take 2 years before you get the EV9 ? (the Full size SUV) (Its scheduled for next year in Europe)

    1. The V2L charging capability has the power of a standard 110 volt outlet, so it’s really only good for plugging in smaller things.
Charging another EV would be very slow

  9. Even though I might not always like it, I do appreciate how hard Hyundai are unleashing their styling designers. They stick out on the road. Also, the magnetic panel is most likely a phone holder, lots of phone mounting widgets use a magnet that you stick to the back of your phone.

    1. I was about to post this. I have a self made magnetic area in all my cars for mounting phones and tablets…

    2. They almost had me. I want an electric replacement for my GTI. Boring to drive kinda takes it off the list

    3. @Jeff K Well it’s a lot bigger, but also has way more power and acceleration since it’s electric. The weight is also under you, and it’s RWD, so I would say better than the VW in both those areas. You just can’t compare driving a tiny car to a bigger one unless the bigger one has much more power, bigger brakes and so on to make it feel similar.

  10. This car isn’t weird, it’s beautiful and finally something different. I saw one of these on the road the other day and almost lost control because it looked so different and so awesome. I will be buying one at somepoint. Really happy with Hyundai’s creativity here.

    1. today’s car designers are under tremendous pressure to come up with something different than what exist already.
And they usually end up with something weird.
It is not easy to come up with something different, yet eye pleasing.

    2. @MandarinDuck hyundai hasn’t made a bad car in over a decade. They have better reliability and build quality than toyota does right now.

    3. @David Jacobs Regulations for ground clearance, vehicle weight, aerodynamics, and pedestrian safety are hard for designers too. Cars from 2005 even wouldn’t be possible with today’s safety standards

  11. had one of those parked nearby and it actually had people stop to look at it. It’s a cool design, absolutely makes it clear that it’s a neat new, snazzy electric car without going all overly weird like some other brands did in the past especially.

    1. I think his overuse of weird and quirky we’re a little bit over-the-top. I agree, I think it’s a good looking car and has a lot of good merits to it. The only bad thing is the Hyundai dealership where I went added a $5,000 premium to the price… I and at least three other people just walked away after hearing that. The EV Revolution is here, but it will be slowed down by adding $5,000 premiums to the price of new EV cars. By the way the the magnet for the most part is used to hold your phone but can be used for other things I’m sure.

    2. I recently saw one (exact color as the one Doug reviewed) at a Walmart. Really nice looking vehicle. Looks like a giant hatchback vs a typical dumb crossover. Actually, girlfriend spotted it first. I busted a u-turn because I wanted to see it up close and talk to the owner. Unfortunately, he was leaving and a Taycan was waiting to use the charger. The Ioniq 5 looked really great in person. Hyundai figured out the perfect blend of “retro-modern” when designing this vehicle. *cough cough… Tesla needs to take notes for that goofy looking Cybertruck thing.

Sidenote: there were about 8 chargers in that parking lot and only one seemed to be working. Sad

    3. I have one and everyday get the same double takes and every time parked someone will come over. Here in Aus they are as rear as rocking horse sh7t. I have been offered 3 times (2x tesla owners) to buy it for $15k over sticker price. I paid $80k Aus. I have had some pretty expensive cars in my time ($250k) and this car is too cheap for what it offers and how it drives. It has a 3m wheel base. Drives better, is bigger (5 adults) and faster than my 2021 Audi SQ7!!WTF

    4. @Drew H. I agree I’ve said years all he ever says to describe a car is weird! He doesn’t say “bold” “futuristic” “aerodynamic” Doug has zero vocabulary.

  12. I bought a RWD SE trim IONIQ 5 about 3 weeks ago, and I have loved it so far. I was able to get it at MSRP, which was quite difficult in itself. I just bought a magnet to try to use the magnetic panel for my phone, but we will see.

  13. The bonus cushion at the foot of the driver seat isn’t a thigh support adjustment. It’s supposed to function as an Ottoman. When you are stopped and charging somewhere and you have nowhere to go whilst you wait for said charge, they included this for people who may want to just lie back and relax in what is almost a recliner. If im not mistaken there is a button in the car somewhere that I think does this automatically, like a “max” or “max relax” or “max recline” button that does all the seat adjustment and ottoman deployment in one touch.

  14. I love the retro-styling that this car does. It blends modern design & retro beauty together very well.

  15. I’ve watched a lot of reviews on this car now, but what caught me in the first two minutes of this review is something I hadn’t noticed before. Hyundai perfectly spaced the angled lines on the fenders so that the rear door gap blends in. Bravo on the guy who designed that
