The Ferrari 250 cost 14.2 million Euros on 6 feb 2015.
Roger Baillon was a french transport entrepreneur gathering classic cars in the early days, planning to start a museum with the cars and trucks. But things didn't go as prepared, his business went down in the 70's making him offer 50 automobiles to foot the bill. The other 70 cars and trucks were put in the scrappy storage for 50 years to be discovered once again in 2014. The automobiles will be auctioned off in February 2015 by the french auction house Arcturial Motorcars

What a shame …how could anyone ever let that happen to such beautiful cars …it should be a crime !!

Seems to be a part of a collection discovered and showed for first time in mid eighties and located just out of northern Paris; all those cars were functioning and bought for peanuts since pre-war vehicles had an outdated design compared to the new Mercedeses, Alfa Romeos, Simcas…The idea of a museum was hilarious to many, so the cars were left to decay, despite many offers for Prince Rainier’s Ferrari, or Giulietta Zagato SS, Lincoln Windsor, the upset owner just turned them down with evident sad results…
What a shame, these cars are just left to rot away!!!

I don’t know what is it with the cars of old… but they have something intangible in them! Something special!!
I find some of these cars really really gorgeous, the shapes and the designs are more human and very organic.

For those how love Delahaye, Bugatti,Talbot type cars bodywork, there is still an historic coachbuilder “De La Chapelle Automobiles” since 1907 (delachapelle.com) with the 57S Atalante (modern BMW or ALPINA engine)… For less money !
