  1. In some markets it doesn’t qualify for business tax credits as it can’t carry a 1 ton payload like the normal Ranger

    1. It also has a lower towing capacity than the ranger with towing package. It’s a joke what ford did to this truck.

    2. @@Maeousie It can still tow plenty. If you’re near the max tow rating of this, you should probably be in an F-150.

  2. We have had these for about a year here in south Africa. This is by far the best truck on sale here. Nothing is as fast or as good offroad. Huge upgrade compared to the old one

    1. Very important for when you drive from white gated community to another white gated community.

    2. Agreed, even the normal Rangers are great. My friend has a Wildtrak and offroading is on easy mode.

  3. Funnily enough I just drove one of these a few minutes ago, and the video came out right after lol

  4. Doug is incorrect about the pricing of the vehicle.

The MSRP of the new TRD pro is $65,000 and the trail hunter is $64,000.

It’s also important to note that there are pretty much no options for the ranger raptor, it comes fully equipped and the only thing you can get are the bead lock wheels.

    1. This is where Toyota nickel and dimes you on the lower models. New Tacoma engine is trash. So is Chevy!

    2. And because of what you get for the money compared to the Toyota, I think Doug’s value number is too low for the Raptor. It should actually be higher that the Trailhunter.

  5. Doug is incorrect about the pricing of the vehicle.

The MSRP of the new TRD pro is $65,000 and the trail hunter is $64,000.

For $57,000 it doesn’t seem like a bad deal.

It’s also important to note that there are pretty much no options for the ranger raptor, it comes fully equipped and the only thing you can get are the bead lock wheels.

    1. It’s almost like the price for the new TRD Pro has even broken Doug’s brain. $64k for a Tacoma just doesn’t seem real. Our minds reject it.

  6. 3:58 uh, $57K is cheaper than the Tacoma trail hunter at $65K, so not sure your math is correct saying this costs more.

  7. Uh, what are you smoking, Doug? The Ranger Raptor is like $6k-$7k cheaper than both the TRD Pro and the Trailhunter.

    1. Even more! The raptor starts @ $55k. TRD Pro starts $65k
Don’t know where Doug got his price info from lol

    2. I came here looking for this comment. I bet he filmed this months ago before Toyota had released their mafia prices on the 24 TRD Pro/Trail Hunter. My bet is Doug based it off the 23 TRD Pro prices.

    3. Yep, Trailhunter Tacoma starts at ~$63k. Not looking forward to seeing how much Toyota wants for a 4Runner Trailhunter….

  8. the crazy here is that its a midsized priced next to a nice trim LT Silverado or for not that much more an AT4 Sierra

  9. I got my Ranger, not the Raptor, here in Brazil with the 3.0 V6 Powerstroke Diesel engine. It has more torque, 620 Nm (448 lbs.ft), than the Raptor, but less horsepower, 250 hp. As the Limited with option package, it has the same goodies for transmission, dash and infotainment screen. It did not came with the big off road tires, but with 20″ wheels and dual purpose AT tires. This makes it handle very well and gives a comfortable drive. Also the 4A is like an all wheel drive that you can use on paved roads without taring up the differential.

  10. Ride was prolly harsher than normal due to the higher tire pressures. Door jam sticker says 39 I believe but most run 36psi for comfort .

    1. I think that’s why Ford came out with the Maverick. Not quite the same thing as a modern version of the old Ranger though.

  11. You’re right, Doug – Ford should have put those orange lights on the front. I would remove all external decals, too.

    1. Raptor lights are going to be the first mod most owners do. Clearance lights are what make the Raptor a Raptor.

  12. I work for Ford motor company on the service side as a field service engineer and I just had to mention about 4A. 4A is essentially all wheel drive. It allows you to drive on the road with all 4 wheel driving the drivetrain. It does not switch between 4 high or low, or switch between 2 high and 4 high. It is basically all wheel drive. All 4 wheels all the time. It has a clutch in the transfer case that allows for slip so that you can go around turns unlike when you put a vehicle in 4H and get driveline bind. But I’m sure most people don’t care how it works lol.

    1. If you work for Ford, tell your bosses to start producing some vehicles that are actually affordable.

Most folks need a bigger truck than the Maverick.

    2. @@cs1992 no they dont. most folks don’t need anything bigger than a Maverick. maybe they WANT something bigger. The maverick is enough for most.

  13. First Doug video I’ve watched in a while. Glad to see he still has his authenticity and went back to outdoor style videos. Keep going Daddy Doug.

    1. Right. Most of the time I think his video is going to be another ‘cars and bids’ featured auction.

  14. Fun fact. In Europe, the Volkswagen Amarok is based on this platform. Still a cool pick up, very well loved in Latin America, South Africa and Australia.
