    1. Is there official confirmation for it? C8 Z06 already destroyed european exotics (NA v8, sub 3s 0-100) i’m taking it instead overpriced 458. Adding bi turbo to 5.5L will be just too silly. What for? 2.7s 0-100? πŸ˜€

    2. I heard its going to incorporate the Z06 flat plane crank motor w/ the battery for front wheels. Not sure but it makes sense to use what you already have.

    3. @streetpharm thats the zora the zr1 will have no electrification the zora will be the zr1 drivetrain with a hybrid motor. supposedly anyway

  1. Honestly it’s crazy to hear GM openly express a Hybrid corvette being faster and even possibly better than the Infamous ZO6. Surely a sign of the future of GM in their push to electrification. This last ZO6 will surely be the last of its kind. The E-ray is solidifying that.

    1. Next doug video. Thisss is a delorean time machine and it’s not any delorean time machine. It’s my delorean time machine

  2. They made such an excellent choice by letting it be a hybrid V8 instead of a V6 or something. It also means that the aftermarket V8 scene is gonna be awesome in 10-20 years.

  3. Can’t believe it finally happened. Gripping corvette. Things are changing with Chevy, in a good way.

    1. Yeah the original wheels looked like the standard wheels on a hot wheels car with the aluminum ring around the wheels

    2. And the colors look good w/ the matching trim. Wheels make so much difference & that torque for everyday use sounds nice.

  4. My prediction for the ZR1 will be a Z06 engine with an upgraded e-ray electric unit up front, making 1k horsepower.

  5. Doug is the kind of guy who will use his extended arms greeting to say β€œThis is where you plug it in…if it were a plug in!”

  6. Big fan of an in-between model and it does sound great for a hybrid… however, that Z06 exhaust note was something sent from Heaven

    1. in terms of ICE cars, nothing really beats a flat plane crank V8. Quite an exotic departure for the Corvette, but in a good way.

  7. When I first saw that there will be a hybrid corvette, I was really nervous that they were gonna butcher my favorite car ever made, by far putting some v6 (or a v4 god forbid) in with the electric motor. Thank GOD they did right by this car. It’s amazing. I would buy it in a heartbeat!

  8. Chevy nailed it once again! The C8 generation is a monumental step in the Corvette historyβ€”first with a new mid-engine layout, next a flat-plane crank and now a hybrid AWD. For now, my favorite choice is the Z06 with its screaming flat-plane crank V8 engine. This new hybrid setup in the E-Ray is a pretty interesting one! I was able to watch the video from @TheStraightPipes and the spaceship whirring sound during acceleration is rather cool!

  9. GM killed it with this! And it really shows how much forward thinking went into to the original C8 design, as all of the electric bits fit within all the β€œdead space” of a standard c8. This was always coming and they planned ahead for it. I hope the zr1 is the cross plane v8 from the z06 with this hybrid powertrain!

  10. I really feel like Chevy/GM has been doing some really cool things and taking risks these last couple years and it’s really cool. I’m looking forward to seeing what they come up with next (hybrid Camaro? AWD Hybrid Camaro E-SS? Who knows!)

  11. Between you and the guys on thestraghtpipes, I’ve learned everything I need to know and I’d love one❀️ I agree with your assessment of the E-Ray’s placement.

The guys got the ride shotgun and loved the speed, acceleration, ride, and handling. I would use the “battery plus button” as a reserve just like when your fuel light comes on, there’s a reserve in the tank!

  12. Love Dougs attention to details. As for charge + I guess it would only be used to charge up before you park, so you can leave in stealth. I cant see that you manually would need to make sure there is enough performance for the front drive. The Panamera was set up that way anyhow. A wet dream would be the Z06 engine in this one..

  13. It wasn’t hard to predict, but the instant I saw the interior of the C8 with that big center tunnel between driver and passenger those few years ago, I knew being a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive car that the tunnel was NOT meant for a driveshaft. I knew instantly that they meant to put a battery pack in there for a future hybrid model. It makes perfect sense to design for the future like that, and I’m glad I was right!
